ANALYZING TOMOGRAMS
How to calculate Disc Topo parameters
(1) DA
The RPE edge points, which are detected radially from the Disc center, are regarded as the Disc
detection points. The inside of the closed curve that connects all the Disc detection points is regarded
as the Disc area, and this area is calculated. An approximate plane that is calculated from all the Disc
detection points is defined as "Reference surface". Parameters are obtained when observing this ref-
erence surface in the vertical direction.
(2) CA
The "referring surface" which has moved on the reference surface vertically by a given distance (this
can be set optionally and default is 120µm) crosses ILM. This crossing point is the Cup detection
point. The inside of the closed curve that connects all the Cup detection points is regarded as the
Cup area, and this area is calculated.
(3) RA
The area between Disc area and Cup area is Rim area. This Rim area (DA-CA) is calculated.
