Silicone Sealant
Designed for a broad variety of sealing and
bonding requirements, silicone sealants are
usually room temperature vulcanizing (RTV)
which form a flexible silicone rubber that
bonds to a wide variety of smooth porous
materials when cured. Standard silicone
sealants are designed to perform in
temperatures from —51° C to 232° C (-60° F
to 400° F), while high temperature variants
can perform in temperatures up to 343° C
(650° F). Follow the manufacturer
recommendations for use.
Aerosol Protectant/Lubricant
Most commonly used to coat battery
terminals, ring terminals, and fork terminals
to reduce corrosion problems. Apply an
aerosol protectant to the connection after
you secure the terminal connection. Do Not
use an aerosol protectant on small multi-pin
electrical connectors.
An aerosol lubricant may also be specified.
Refer to the specific service procedure for
details.
Special Tools
Special tools for servicing Ventrac Commercial Products are available from your
Ventrac dealer. Some of these tools are available as Ventrac parts or may also be
available from a local tool supplier.
Multimeter
Obtain this tool locally
The meter can test the electrical
components and circuits for current,
resistance, or voltage.
Note: Use a digital multimeter when
testing the electrical circuits. The high
impedance (internal resistance) of a
digital meter in the voltage mode
ensures that the excess current is not
allowed through the meter. This excess
current can damage the circuits that are
not designed to carry it.
