Pressure Line Location on Power Steering Pump
– Install the pressure line -3- so that stop tab -2- contacts pump
housing -1-.
Vane Pump, Removing And Installing:
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Torque Wrench 1331 5-50Nm - VAG1331-
♦ Used Oil Collection And Extraction Unit - SMN372500-
♦ Shop Crane - Drip Tray - VAS6208-
♦ Hydraulic Fluid
General Information
Vane pump is not designed to be serviced. If there are customer
complaints, the cause must be determined using a pressure and
leak test. If there is a malfunction, replace the vane pump.
♦ If fluid is low in reservoir, always check steering system for
leaks.
♦ If there are leaks in the area of the line connections, the lines/
connections must first be inspected for leaks, tightened as
necessary and wiped dry.
♦ Power steering pump is delivered without oil. Therefore, Hy‐
draulic Oil must be filled before installation and turned by hand.
Otherwise, noises when driving or damage to power steering
pump may occur.
♦ Replace the power steering pump seal and o-ring before in‐
stalling.
♦ If replacing the power steering pump, replace also the input
shaft, the seal and the o-ring.
Removing
– With vehicles with air suspension, place vehicle on hoist, refer
to ⇒ page 10 .
– Extract hydraulic oil from reservoir using Used Oil Collection
And Extraction Unit - SMN372500- .
– Remove front left wheel.
