K.4.2 Multicast Routing Mode

, is where communications is established via one single source (referred to as the
Multicast Sender) and routed to many groups of destination nodes (referred to as Multicast
Receivers). Typical multicast applications include multimedia conferencing, online training,
news, etc. depicts the schematic for a Multicast Routing Network.
As shown, there are two key components to this configuration the LAN Downstream
Interface, and the WAN Upstream Interface. Note the following:
LAN Downstream Interface the LAN Downstream Interface is the interface to which
multicast packets arriving at the upstream interface are forwarded if a multicast group has
at least one listener.
The CDM-625A LAN interfaces are configured as Downstream Interface and
the IGMP server is enabled by default.
WAN Upstream Interface the WAN Upstream Interface is where all multicast packets are
forwarded to the uplink interface if the multicast routing exists in the Routing table.
The CDM-625A WAN interface is configured as Upstream Interface by
default.
