17.8 How to Move a File to Planning or Navigation
Station
If there are two ECDIS workstations connected via a LAN, files can be moved from one workstation to another.
Note: The intention of the Backup function is to make a backup copy of a route, user chart, etc. to a backup
medium. If you want to copy charts, routes, user charts, etc. between ECDIS workstations, it is recommended that
you use the Restore function instead of Backup. For use of Backup, see the illustration below for when it is possible
to use the Backup function.

To use the Backup function:
1. Open desired menu.
2. From the menu, select the Backup and Restore command.
3. Select desired file from the Hard disk field.
4. Select backup drive from the Backup device field.
5. Press the Backup button.
The figure below shows when you should not use the backup function to copy files between ECDIS workstations.
To copy files between ECDIS workstations use the Restore function. For more information, see section 17.9 "How
to Read a File from Planning or Navigation Station" on the next page
