A4.9 Use of Dynamic Licensing
A4.9.1 Introduction
Dynamic licensing service is a user friendly and cost-effective method for licensing ENC charts in C-MAP SENC
format.
The charts are viewed on credit which is specified in the agreement between end user and Jeppesen. The agreement
also implies specification of chart collection within the limits of which the end user plans to navigate.
The dynamic licensing is a part of the real time updating (RTU) scheme. Interaction between ECDIS and C-Map
server and control over the dynamic licensing work is carried out over the internet by means of specially formatted
messages. The exchange messages are automatically generated and attached to update request and answer files.
A4.9.2 Dynamic licensing in multi-workstation environment
You have to maintain Dynamic Licensing on both ECDIS workstation separately, i.e. RTU updates must b done on
each ECDIS. Remaining Credit is only information which is harmonized between ECDIS workstations. All other
Dynamic Licensing things are maintained in each workstation.
A4.9.3 Initialization of dynamic licensing
For the dynamic licensing service to become available, customer has to request its initialization. Initialization
process includes the following steps:
1. For the service to be initialized, C-Map needs the following information:
a) System IDs (eTokenIDs)
b) Names of required chart collections
c) The credit amount information
2. To activate the service on the bridge, the customer sends an RTU request from the ECDIS to the C-map Update
server (updates@c-map.no
)
3. In response, the C-Map Update Server sends updates for already licensed data, if there is any, and an answer to
the initialization request.
