30. Alerts
30.1 Introduction
FEA-2x07 is designed to meet requirements set on paper "IMO MSC 252, xxx" issued by IMO.
Alerts generated by ECDIS can be divided into three priorities:
• Alarm: Only the most urgent alerts that need your attention. The alert initially flashes in red, and an audio
alarm sounds until acknowledged. After acknowledgement, the alert is shown in plain text and the audio alarm
stops.
• Warning: The most of alerts are in this category. In addition to text on flashing yellow background, a short
beep generated by ECDIS, if not acknowledged in 60 seconds, then continuous beep until acknowledged (or
short beep repeated every 60 seconds).
• Caution: Few alerts only having only text on flashing yellow background without audible sound.
30.2 Overview
Alerts are displayed at the lower right corner. To acknowledge an alert, push the left button. To display the Alert
Queue, push the right button.
There are three kind of alerts generated by the ECDIS. To see a list of alerts, see section 30.12 "List of Alerts ".
