Probe Table
Probe Table
The Access Point 530 supports the Rogue AP Detection feature in ProCurve
Mobility Manager by making available, via SNMP, a table of PROBE requests
from unassociated audible clients.
Probe Table Description
The first time a PROBE request is received from an unassociated audible
client, a new entry in the Probe Table is created, consisting of:
■ Radio number (1 or 2)
■ Client MAC address
■ RSSI in dB (with no scaling for antenna gain or other factors)
■ SSID of the PROBE request
■ Number of PROBE requests for this client
■ First received PROBE request timestamp
■ Last received PROBE request timestamp
■ Data rate at which the PROBE was received.
When existing entries are updated with new PROBE requests, the following
attributes are modified:
■ RSSI
■ PROBE request SSID
■ Number of PROBE requests for this client.
■ Last received PROBE request timestamp
■ Data rate at which the PROBE was received.
Guidelines for Configuring the Probe Table
■ The Probe Table feature is disabled by default, but may be disabled.
■ The maximum number of audible client entries in the Probe Table for both
radios is 1024.
■ Audible client entries remain in the Probe Table until the age of their last
received PROBE is greater than the Audible Client Timeout value. This
value is configurable.
■ PROBE requests are tracked only on the currently selected channel.
■ Entries in the Probe Table are indexed by <radio>.<mac address>.
