Charging batteries with an electrolyte
circulation pump
Using batteries equipped with electrolyte
circulation offers a number of key advantages:

Reduction in energy costs of approxi-
mately 15%
Reduction in water consumption of up to
75%
Longer battery maintenanc
e intervals
An electrical pump (1) is also fitted under the
rear cover of the truck for this purpose.
Programming
The truck diagnostics can be used to specify
whether a battery with electrolyte circulation is
installed in the truck.

Functional de
scription
The air is produced by a pump (1).
The pump (1) is activated directly by the inte-
grated charger (4). The pump is connected to
the charger by a 7-pin plug (3).
At the start o
f the charging process, the pump
is switched o
n for 30 seconds in order to
determine via t
he built-in pressure switch
whether a sui
table air pressure has been
establish
ed in the system.
If a leak is found in the electrolyte circulation
system, the programmed characteristic curve
is switched to a characteristic curve with no
electrolyte circulation.
