Smart Cruise®
Smart Cruise
®
activates when the motorhome cruise control system is engaged and the Eaton
Vorad System is On. When Smart Cruise
®
is active, the S/C light in the upper right corner of the
Driver Display will illuminate. A Range Control Knob is utilized to adjust Following Intervals. The
system will either maintain the selected Following Interval between the motorhome and the vehicle
ahead of the motorhome, or in the case of no vehicle ahead, the preset cruise control speed. Following
Interval takes priority over the preset cruise control speed. Smart Cruise
®
will adjust or reduce speed
when overtaking a vehicle within Following Interval range, adjusted by using the Control Knob located
on the Driver Display. The system is also capable of engaging the engine brake.
WARNING:
Smart Cruise® is not a substitute for an alert driver. Smart Cruise® will not react to
stationary objects and cannot apply the service brakes to bring the motorhome to a
complete stop. The driver needs to use good driving practices and remain in control of
the motorhome at all times to avoid accidents.
WARNING:
If the motorhome speed and speed of the vehicles ahead significantly differ, the driver
will need to apply the service brakes to maintain a safe distance. As with the cruise
control, Smart Cruise® must be reset after application of the brakes.
WARNING:
The Eaton Vorad Collision Warning System/Smart Cruise® is not a substitute for an
alert, safe driver. The driver is ultimately responsible for the safe operation of the
motorhome. The driver should fully understand the operating characteristics and limi-
tations of the Smart Cruise® and take all necessary actions to operate the motorhome
in a safe manner.
Proximity Alert:
The proximity alert is activated when the motorhome is moving up to two miles per hour and an
object is detected less than 15 feet in front of the motorhome. In this case, the yellow light comes on,
accompanied by a low-pitch tone.
