Primary Filter System:
The primary filter system filters the fuel, detects water that may be present
in the fuel supply and is also used to prime the fuel system. The fuel goes
through the reusable pre-filter before entering the primary filter.
When changing the filter, a suitable container is required to catch the waste
fuel. Properly dispose of waste fuel. Do not reuse fuel and risk introducing
contaminants into the system.
1. Remove the thumb bolt, washer and top housing. Remove the bowl, pre-
filter and O-rings.
2. Wear safety goggles. Clean the pre-filter and bowl in a solvent bath, or
using compressed air.
3. Inspect the O-rings for cuts or damage. Replace if needed.
4. Lube O-rings with motor oil or clean fuel.
5. Install pre-filter onto bottom block. Install bowl with arrow pointing
down. Replace the top housing, confirming that the O-rings are properly
seated.
6. Replace thumb bolt and tighten by hand. Using pliers, turn the bolt three-
quarter turn to firmly seat the O-ring seals.
7. Remove bottom discharge line and primary filter. Drain fuel from filter into
container.
8. Lube O-ring on new filter with motor oil or clean fuel. It is not necessary to
fill the filter with fuel.
9. Install filter onto housing. Tighten an additional three-quarter to one full turn
after seat contacts base. Install discharge line to bottom of filter.
NOTE:
Over tightening may result in damage to the unit.
