Caliper Disassembly
1. Remove bo th br ake p ads fr om th e ca liper (see
“FRONT BRAKE PADS - Pad Removal”).
2. Remove mount bracket assembly and dust boots.
3. Thoroughly clean the caliper before disassembly and
p
repare a clean work area for disassembly.
4. Use a c ommercially available caliper pis
ton pliers to
extract the pistons from the caliper.
IMPORTANT: Do not remove the caliper pistons with
a
st andard p liers. The piston se aling su rfaces will
become damaged if a standard pliers is used.
5. Once the pistons are removed, use a pick to carefully
r
emove the square O-rings from the caliper. O-rings
should be replaced during caliper service.
6. Clean the caliper body, piston, and retaining bracket
with br
ake cleaner or alcohol.
NOTE: Be sure to clea n se al grooves in ca liper
b
ody.
