TheODUcommunicateswiththeRADWINManagerusingtheSNMPv1orSNMPv3protocol.
TheSNMPv1protocoldefinesthreetypesofcommunities:
•Read‐OnlyforretrievinginformationfromtheODU
•Read‐WritetoconfigureandcontroltheODU
•TrapusedbytheODUtoissuetraps.
TheCommunitystringmustbeenteredatlogon.Youmustknowthepasswordandthe
correctCommunitystringtogainaccesstothesystem.Youmayhaveread‐onlyprivileges.Itis
notpossibletomanagetheODUiftheread‐writeorthereadCommunityvaluesare
forgotten.AnewCommunityvaluemaybeobtainedfromRADWINCustomerServiceforthe
purposeofsettingnewCommunity.Youmustalsohaveavailabletheserialnumberorthe
MACaddressoftheODU.
Theread‐writeCommunitystringsandread‐onlyCommunitystringshaveaminimumoffive
alphanumericcharacters.(bru1andbru4097arenotpermitted).Changingthetrap
Communityisoptionalandisdonebyclickingthecheckbox.
EditingSNMPv1CommunityStrings
Wheneditingthesestrings,bothread‐writeandread‐onlycommunitiesmustbedefined.
Uponloggingonforthefirsttime,usethefollowingasthecurrentCommunity:
• ForRead‐WriteCommunity,usenetman.
• ForRead‐OnlyCommunity,usepublic.
• ForTrapCommunity,usepublic
TochangeaCommunitystring:
1. Typethecurrentread‐writeCommunity(defaultisnetman).
2. Choosethecommunitiestobechangedbyclickingthecheckbox.
3. TypethenewCommunitystringandre‐typetoconfirm.Acommunitystringmust
containatleastfiveandnomorethan32charactersexcludingSPACE,TAB,andany
of“>#@|*?;."
4. ClickOKtosave.
EditingSNMPv3Passwords
Tocommencetheprocess,youmustenterthecurrentRead‐WriteCommunitypasswordas
showninthefirstfieldofFigure 7‐12below.ChangetheRead‐WriteandRead‐Only
passwordsasindicated.Apasswordmustbebetween8and31characterslong.Thesame
characterrestrictionsfortheSNMPv1communitystringsalsoapplyhere.
