9.1ScopeofthisChapter
Thischapterdescribeswhatishubsitesynchronization,whyitisneeded,andanoverviewof
thevariouswaysitisimplementedinaRADWINradiosystem.
9.2WhatisHubSiteSynchronization(HSS)?
Whenseveralradiounitsarecolocatedatacommonsite,interferencemayoccurfromone
unittoanother.Thisinterference,ifitoccurs,happenswhenatagivenmomentintimeone
unitistransmitting,buttheotherisreceiving:thereceivingunitmaydetectthetransmitting
signalsofitsimmediateneighborinsteadof(orinadditionto)signalsfromwhereitshould.
Figure 91illustratesinterferencecausedbynonsynchronizedcolocatedunits:IfUnit1is
receivingatagivenmomentfromUnit1A,andatthatsamemomentUnit2istransmittingto
Unit2A,Unit1mightreceivesignalsdirectlyfr omUnit2.
