3.1ScopeofthisChapter
Thischapterpresentssomegeneralguidelinesaboutconductingasitesurvey,whichisaplan
ofwhatradiounitstoplacewhereandinwhatconfiguration.
3.2PlanningtheLinkSite
3.2.1Overview
Linksiteplanningconsistsofasetofsurveys,whichmustbecarriedoutbeforeany
equipmentisbroughttothesite.Ifforsomereason,theoutcomeofanyofthes esurveysis
negative,sitere‐locationwillneedtobeconsidered.
ASiteSurveyconsistsofthreestages:
1. Preliminarysurvey‐Theproposedlinkisanalyzedintheofficeusingatopographicmap.
2. Physicalsurvey‐Thelocationsoftheindoorandoutdoorequipmentaredeterminedon‐
site.
3. RadioFrequency(RF)survey‐Itisrecommendedthattheinstallationareabescanned
withaspectrumanalyzer,toidentifyRFinterferencesoastodetermineacle
archannelfor
radioinstallation(on‐site).
Similarmodelsonlycanworkoppositeeachother(thatis,RADWIN2000A+vs.
RADWIN2000A+,RADWIN2000C+vs.RADWIN2000C+,RADWIN2000D+vs.
RADWIN2000D+andRADWIN2000ivs.RADWIN2000i),eventhoughtheir
maximumthroughputmight bethesame.
