MASTER EJECT
C262/C265 6-26 SM
Drum Lock Mechanism
The clamper motor drives the drum guide [C]. The clamper closed position sensor
[A] and clamper open position sensor [B] monitor the position of the drum guide.
When the drum reaches the master eject position, the drum guide moves until the
clamper open position sensor [B] is actuated then deactuated (the actuator must go
through the sensor). This engages the stud on the rear drum flange.
Before the drum starts rotating to the master making position, the drum guide
returns to the home position. The clamper closed position sensor [A] determines
this position.
NOTE: The same drum guide also moves when the drum is at the master making
position. (There is another stud on the rear drum flange, which is used to
secure the drum at the master making position.)
A link plate at the master eject position synchronizes the master clamper
with the drum guide movement.
To open the clamper, the drum guide (with the clamper opening arm) must
move a greater distance than at the master making position. Therefore, at
the master eject position, the drum guide moves (to open the master
clamper) until the clamper open position sensor [B] turns on (interrupted by
the feeler) and then turns off again, as shown in the diagram. Refer to the
Master Feed section to compare the two mechanisms.
