RemovingtheSteeringControlValve(continued)
7.Supportthesteeringcontrolvalvetopreventitfromfallingduringremoval.
8.Raisetherubberbootatthebaseofthesteeringcolumn,thenloosenand
removethe4fastenerssecuringthesteeringcontrolvalvetothesteering
column.
9.Slidethesteeringcontrolvalvefromthesteeringcolumn,andremovethe
steeringcontrolvalvefromthemachine.
10.Ifnecessary,removethehydraulicttingsfromthesteeringcontrolvalveand
discardtheO-rings.
InstallingtheSteeringControlValve
1.Ifthehydraulicttingswereremovedfromthesteeringcontrolvalve,lubricate
newO-ringswithcleanhydraulicuid,positiontheO-ringstothettings,and
installthettingstothesteeringcontrolvalve;refertoInstallingtheHydraulic
Fittings(SAEStraightThreadO-RingFittings)(page5–9).
2.Applyanti-seizelubricanttothesplinesofthesteeringcontrolvalveinput
shaft.
3.Slidethesteeringcontrolvalveontothesteeringcolumn.Securethesteering
controlvalvetothesteeringcolumnwiththepreviouslyremovedfasteners
andtightenthefastenersfrom11to13N·m(96to120in-lb).
4.Installtherubberboottothebaseofthesteeringcolumn.
5.Removethecapsandplugsthenconnectthehydraulictubestothecontrol
valvettings;refertoInstallingHydraulicHosesandTubes(O-RingFace
SealFitting)(page5–7).
6.Installthesteeringcover.
7.Chargethehydraulicsystem;refertoChargingtheHydraulicSystem(page
5–62).
