Theparkingbrakeswitchislocatedunderthebrakelevercoverontheleftside
ofthebrakelever.Asetofnormallyclosedcontactsintheswitchareopened
whentheparkingbrakeisdisengaged(brakeleverdown).Onlytwo(2)ofthe
switchterminalsareusedintheparkingbrakeswitchcircuit.
TheTDMdisplay/controllermonitorsthepositionoftheparkingbrakeswitch.
Theparkingbrakeswitchispartofthemachinesafetyinterlocksystem.Using
theparkingbrakeswitchposition(openorclosed)andavarietyofotherinputs,
theTDMdisplay/controllermanagesavarietyofmachinefunctions.
TestingtheParkingBrakeSwitch
TheparkingbrakeswitchanditscircuitwiringcanbetestedusingtheTDM
display/controllermaininformationscreens(brakeicon);refertoUsingthe
TDMDisplay/ControllerScreensforTroubleshooting(page3–12).Iftesting
determinesthattheswitchandcircuitwiringarenotfunctioningcorrectly,
proceedwiththefollowingtestprocedure:
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingunit(orattachment),
engagetheparkingbrake,setthekeyswitchtotheOFFpositionandremove
thekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Removethe4panelfastenersandremovetheparkingbrakelevercover
fromthemachine.
3.Disconnectthemachinewireharnessfromtheswitch.Checktheswitch
andtheharnessconnectorfordamageorcorrosionandcleanorrepair
ifnecessary.
4.Useamultimeter(ohmssetting)todeterminewhethercontinuityexists
betweenthevariousterminalsforeachswitchposition.
