TractionCircuitComponentFailure
ThetractioncircuitoftheGroundsmaster3200/3300machinesisaclosed
loopsystemthatincludesthehydraulicpumpandhydraulicwheelmotors.Ifa
componentinthetractioncircuitshouldfail,unwantedmaterialandcontamination
fromthedamagedcomponentwillcirculatethroughoutthattractioncircuit.This
contaminationcandamageothercomponentsinthatcircuit.Thecontamination
mustberemovedassoonaspossibletopreventadditionalcomponentfailure.
Therecommendedmethodtoremovecontaminationfromthetractioncircuitisto
temporarilyinstallaT orohighowhydraulic-uidlterintothecircuit;referto
HighFlowHydraulicFilterKit(page2–18).Ifatractioncircuitfailureissuspect,
theltershouldbeinstalledbeforeconnectinghydraulictestgaugestotest
tractioncircuitcomponentsorafterreplacingafailedtractioncircuitcomponent.
Thelterwillensurethatcontaminatesareremovedfromtheclosed-looptraction
circuitandthus,preventadditionalcomponentdamage.RefertoFilteringthe
Closed-loopTractionCircuit(page5–57)foradditionalinformationonusingthe
Torohighowhydrauliclter.
Note:Iftractioncircuitcontaminationexists,thetractionpumpcasedraincould
allowcontaminatestoenterthehydraulictank.
ThealternativetousingtheT orohighowhydrauliclterkitafteratractioncircuit
componentfailurewouldbetodisassemble,drainandthoroughlycleanallthe
components,thehydraulictank,andthehydraulictubesandhosesinthetraction
circuit.Ifanydebrisremainsinthetractioncircuitandthemachineisoperated,
thedebriscancauseadditionalcircuitcomponentfailures.
