• Bluetooth 4.0 low energy (December 2009)
In December 2009 the Bluetooth SIG introduced Bluetooth low energy (previously
"Wibree" and "Bluetooth Ultra Low Power") as an additional radio option for
applications requiring low data throughput and low power consumption.
• Bluetooth 4.1 (December 2013)
In December 2013 the Bluetooth SIG introduced an update to Bluetooth low energy,
adding new software features that improve consumer usability.
• Bluetooth 4.2 (December 2014)
In December 2014 the Bluetooth SIG introduced a further update to Bluetooth low
energy, adding some key features for IOT including data length extension and privacy
updates.
• Bluetooth 5 (December 2016)
In December 2016 the Bluetooth SIG introduced further enhancements to Bluetooth
low energy, including 2LE (2 Mbps) to double the transmission speed and BLR (long
range) also known as LE Coded. The Stable Modulation Index specification was
introduced.
2-2 Bluetooth RF Tests
The Bluetooth specification defines the following tests:
Basic Rate Tests:
• Transmitter tests:
• Output power
• Power density
• Power control
• Enhanced power control
• Output spectrum - frequency range
• Output spectrum - 20dB bandwidth
• Output spectrum - ACP
• Modulation characteristics
• Initial carrier frequency tolerance
• Carrier frequency drift
• Receiver tests:
• Single slot sensitivity
• Multi slot sensitivity
• C/I performance
• Blocking performance
• Intermodulation performance
• Maximum input level
