MT8852B Operation Manual PN: 13000-00205 Rev. N 14-1
Chapter 14 — Audio Measurements
The MT8852B and MT8852B-041 Bluetooth Test Sets can be used to perform audio
measurements by establishing a Synchronous Connection Oriented (SCO) link between the
MT8852B and the EUT. A SCO link is a full duplex link between a Bluetooth master and
slave.
There are four scenarios in which audio measurements may be made, each of which is
illustrated and explained in this chapter. The four test scenarios are:
Testing the EUT's audio performance using remote loopback on the MT8852B.
Testing the audio performance of the EUT transmit path.
Testing the audio performance of the EUT receive path.
Putting the EUT into remote loopback.
14-1 Testing using Remote Loopback
The EUT’s audio performance can be tested using the set-up below. The MT8852B is put into
remote loopback and the audio path tested without passing the signal through the MT8852B
CODEC. The audio is looped back in the MT8852B baseband and so there is no audio
distortion introduced by the tester.
Notes
Audio measurement functionality can be added to any MT8852B, MT8852B-040,
MT8852B-041, or MT8852B-042 by purchasing retrofit option MT8852B-319.
Audio measurements cannot be performed on the MT8852B-043.
SCO is an optional feature within the Bluetooth specification. The MT8852B can
be used to establish a SCO link and transmit HV packets to or from the EUT. To
perform audio measurements, an audio signal source and audio analyzer are also
required (e.g., Keithley 2015).
