The IP address to be configured as the management address must exist. It is recommended that
you use the IP address of the MEth interface as the LLDP management address.

4.3.6 (Optional) Setting the Interval for Sending LLDP Packets
After the interval is set on the device, each LLDP-enabled interface sends an LLDP packet to
neighbor stations at this interval. You can adjust the frequency of network topology discovery
by setting the interval for sending LLDP packets. Do as follows on Switch A and Switch B.
Prerequisite
LLDP has been enabled globally.
Context
The interval for sending the LLDP packets should be set properly. The value specified by this
parameter is subject to vary according to the network load.
l The greater the value, the lesser the frequency of LLDP packets being exchanged. This
saves resources of the system. If the value is too large, the S9300 cannot notify the neighbor
stations of its status timely. As a result, the NMS cannot discover changes in the network
topology timely.
l The smaller the value is, the more frequently the local status information is sent to the
neighbors. This helps the NMS to discover changes in the network topology timely. If the
value is too small, however, LLDP packets are exchanged frequently. This increases the
load on the system and wastes resources.
Adjust the value of interval based on the following rules because the values of interval and
delay affect each other:
l The value of interval is not restricted by delay. The value ranges from 5 to 32768.
l If the value of interval is decreased, it must be no less than four times of the value of
delay. Thus, when the value of interval to be set is less than four times of the value of
delay, the value of delay must be adjusted to be no greater than a quarter of the value of
interval. After that, the value of interval can be set.
