SYSTem:COMMunicate:LAN:DHCP
Syntax
SYSTem:COMMunicate:LAN:DHCP {OFF | ON}
SYSTem:COMMunicate:LAN:DHCP?
Description
This command disables or enables use of the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) for the instru-
ment.
When DHCP is enabled (factory setting), the instrument will try to obtain an IP address from a DHCP
server. If a DHCP server is found, it will assign a dynamic IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway to
the instrument.
When DHCP is disabled or unavailable, the instrument will use the static IP address, Subnet Mask, and
Default Gateway during power-on.
If you change the DHCP setting, you must send the SYSTem:COMMu-
nicate:LAN:UPDate command to activate the new setting.
Remarks
l Most corporate LANs have a DHCP server.
l If a DHCP LAN address is not assigned by a DHCP server, then a static IP will be assumed after approx-
imately 2 minutes.
l The DHCP setting is stored in non-volatile memory, and does not change when power has been off,
after a Factory Reset (*RST command), or after an Instrument Preset (SYSTem:PRESet command).
l DHCP is enabled when the instrument is shipped from the factory or after a SYSTem:SECur-
ity:IMMediate command.
Return Format
The query returns the DHCP enable state: 0 (OFF) or 1 (ON).
