4.6.3 Installing Sealed Bearings
Sealed bearings are held in place on a shaft with a locking collar and a flangette.
Follow these steps to install sealed bearings:
1. Clean the shaft and coat it with rust preventative.

2. Install flangette (A), bearing (B), second flangette (C), and
lock collar (D).
NOTE:
The locking cam is only on one side of the bearing.
3. Install (but do NOT tighten) flangette bolts (E).
4. When the shaft is correctly located, lock the lock collar with
a punch.
NOTE:
The collar should be locked in the same direction the shaft
rotates. Tighten the set screw in the collar.
5. Tighten the flangette bolts.
6. Loosen the flangette bolts on the mating bearing by one
turn and retighten it. This will allow the bearing to line up.
