Preventive Maintenance
The table below lists the preventive maintenance procedures you should complete to keep your ana-
lyzer operating at peak performance. Instructions for each procedure follow the table. Micromeritics
also recommends that you have preventive maintenance procedures and calibration performed by one
of our service representatives every 12 months.
Maintenance Required Frequency
Checking and cleaning analysis port dewars, page 7-5 Weekly
Replace port filters, page 7-5 Every 30 days
Replace sample tube O-ring, page As required or every 3 months
Inspect and change vacuum pump fluid*, page 7-9 As required or every 3 months
Replace alumina in oil vapor traps*, page 7-13 As required or every 3 months
Clean the outside of the analyzer, page 7-16 As required or every 6 months
Check analyzer outgassing rate, page 7-17 Every 6 months
Test analyzer for leaks, Diagnostics, page 4-32 As required or every 12 months
Replace vacuum pump exhaust filter, page 7-19 As required or every 12 months
Replace diaphragm in vacuum pump (if an oil-free ï€
pump is used)**

*Oil-sealed vacuum pumps only.
**For oil-free pumps only: After about 12 to 18 months of operation, the diaphragm in the pump will
wear out. When the diaphragm wears out, the pump becomes completely inoperable. To prevent any
instrument down time due to an inoperable pump, we recommend that you have the diaphragm
replaced by a Micromeritics Service Representative every 12 months.
