7. Insert the oil-fill plug and turn counterclockwise to tighten.
8. If the fluid was badly contaminated (dark brown color), flush the pump with fresh fluid as
follows:
a.) Cover the top of the oil vapor trap.
b.) Plug the pump power cord into a power source and run for about 2 minutes.
c.) Unplug the power cord.
d.) Remove the plug from the drain spout.
e.) Allow the oil to drain into the waste container.
f.) Reinstall the drain plug.
g.) Add fresh fluid to the oil-fill port until the level is midway between the two indicator lines.
h.) Reinstall the oil-fill plug.
i.) Repeat steps a through h if necessary.
9. Check the alumina in the oil vapor trap and replace if necessary (refer to Replacing the Alumina
in the Oil Vapor Traps, page 7-13).
10. Reconnect the power cord to the power source.
11. The pump must run a few hours (or overnight) to eliminate air and moisture from the fresh fluid
and to produce efficient vacuum operations.
