14.5.1 Measurement with BA Assistant
BA Assistant is an application for mobile devices (smartphones, tablets) with the Android 7.0 or newer
operating system that uses Svantek measuring instruments to measure the building acoustics, including STIPA
speech intelligibility.
After taking measurements using BA Assistant a project (zip file containing files with the results obtained during
the measurement) will be automatically copied to the measuring instrument. Project zip file is named
BAxxx.ZIP and you can download it to a PC and open with the SvanPC++ program using the "SVAN Files"
option (available in the menu "SVAN -> SVAN Files" or using the meter icon on the toolbar). If you have
the SvanPC++ software installed on your PC, you can open the project directly by doble clicking on it.
To open the project:
• Connect your Svantek instrument to the PC,
• Launch SvanPC++,
• select the project file in the list on the left side of the window and then use the right arrow button. As a
result, the file will be downloaded to the folder on the right side of the window.
• Then just double click on the downloaded file and it will be automatically opened in the SvanPC++
program. The STIPA results window will appear.
You can skip downloading the file and double-click on the file in the list on the left panel - then the file will be
downloaded to the temporary folder and opened.
14.5.2 Direct measurement with SVAN 977A (without BA Assistant)
When using the instrument directly STIPA function, the measurement files are grouped in catalogues for points.
Point catalogues are grouped into source catalogues. Those, in turn, are grouped in the catalogues for the
area, and the catalogues for the area are grouped in the project catalogue.
To download files with SvanPC++, use the "SVAN Files" window. Select the appropriate catalogue with
required data in the instrument section and then click the right arrow to download them. You can select the
entire project catalogue or only a catalogue for the area or point (or even a single SVL file).
