8.1 Preventive Maintenance and Calibration
To ensure continuing reliable operation, the Qualitek mR should be serviced and
calibrated regularly by a competent service engineer. The servicing intervals and
calibration requirements often vary between users based on any combination of
local policy, environmental conditions, industry standards, or the type of testing
being done. In the absence of any established servicing requirements at your
installation, Uson recommends that servicing be performed at least once a year.
Many owners of Qualitek mR testers have their own servicing departments and/or
calibration labs either on- or off-site. If such services are not convenient to you,
Uson stands ready to meet all of your servicing and calibration requirements.
Your Uson Representative is the best source of information about these services
and will help you make arrangements to send your tester to Uson for service.
Please contact the Uson Customer Support Hotline at (+1) 281-671-2000 or your
Uson Representative for further information on calibration and maintenance
services from Uson.
8.2 Touch-Panel Care
Unplug the tester. Lightly dampen a soft cloth with water or a mild detergent and
gently wipe the panel. Take care not to force liquid into the corners and edges.
Never use an organic solvent, window cleaner, acid or alkali solution to clean the
touch panel. Don’t subject the panel to stress or impact and avoid exposing it to
sharp objects.
The touch-panel is illuminated by a backlight. Prolong the backlight’s life by using
the Backlight Timeout feature to dim the display when it is not being used. This
feature is found in the Display tab of Hardware Setup in Program mode.
8.2.1 Recovering From Lockup
Like any computer-controlled device, there may be very rare instances when the
touch-panel fails to respond to input after the Home screen first appears. Fix this
situation by turning off the tester for at least 5 minutes. The touch panel will work
normally when power is restored.
The touch-panel can be broken if it subjected to an impact or excessive
pressure.
