Chapter 10
License Updates
10.1 License Update Overview
All Qualitek mR testers ship from Uson with a temporary license. As this initial
license period nears its end, periodic warnings are displayed on the screen. If
unheeded, the license will expire and the tester will not be able to test. Installing
the license update issued by Uson will keep the tester in service. A new license can
be issued in several ways. It can be on a USB memory stick, or it can be issued by
means of written correspondence or in a telephone conversation.
10.2 About the License Key
The license key consists of 27 characters in four sets of 6 character groups
separated by a hyphen. This means that every license key has 3 hyphens.
A license key only works on the specific tester (by serial number) for which it was
made.
A representative example of a QmR license key is:
RUDHCA-APE222-6TIVCJ-NTZZNL
The character set that is used for the license key is designed to be easy to enter.
The character set is not case sensitive, so the following license text is equivalent to
the one above and would work just as well:
rudhca-ape222-6tivcj-ntzznl
The numbers “0” and “1” are not used so as not to be confused with the letters “O”
and “l”.
The character set is as follows:
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
234567
