Disable Unused NetVanta 800 Interfaces
TheNetVanta800declaresalarmsforallunusedinterfaces(DS3,EFM,Ethernet,andPower
Feed).Toclearthesealarmsoncethe800isturnedup,theappropriateinterfacesmustbeshut
down.
Thissectiondetailsthefollowinginformation
•DisabletheDS3interfaces
•DisabletheEthernetinterfaces
•DisabletheGigabit‐Ethernetinterface
•Disablethe
powerfeedalarms
•Clearthealarmlog
Disable the DS1 Interfaces
ForeachunusedDS1portintheEFMBondingGroup,completethefollowing:
ThismustbedonetocleartheDS1lossofsignalandEFMnearendsync
alarms.
1. FromtheEnableprompt,type
configure terminal,andpressENTERtoaccesstheGlo‐
balConfigurationprompt.
2. FromtheGlobalConfigurationprompt,accesstheunusedDS3portʹsconfiguration
promptbytyping
interface t3 1/
0/<port>
,andpressENTER.3. FromtheT3InterfaceConfigurationprompt,shuttheDS3portdownbytyping
shutdown,andpressENTER.
4. Repeatsteps2to3fortheremainingunusedDS3ports.
5. FromtheT3InterfaceConfigurationprompt,type
exit,andpressENTERtoreturntothe
GlobalConfigurationprompt.
6. FromtheGlobalConfigurationprompt,type
interface efm-group 1/0/1,andpress
ENTERtoaccesstheEFMBondingGroupConfigurationprompt.
7. RemovetheDS3portfromthebondinggroupbytyping
no link <slot/port>,and
press
ENTER.ForNetVantaproducts,theslotisalwayszero.
8. Repeatstep7toremoveallunusedportsfromtheEFMbondinggroup.
9. Type
end,andpressENTERtoreturntotheEnableprompt.
OnceallunusedDS3interfaceshavebeendisabled,allDS3andEFMbondinggroupalarms
shouldbeclearedinthealarmlog,andtheEFMLEDshouldbelitsolidgreen,ifthereareno
otherissues.Also,thepartialEFMgroupalarmshouldclear.
