Configure SCM Management
Thissectiondetailsthefollowinginformation:

VLAN Definition
Avirtuallocalareanetwork(VLAN)isagroupofhostswithacommonsetofrequirements
thatcommunicateasiftheywereat tached tothesamewire,eventhoughtheymayactually
physicallybeconnectedtodifferentsegmentsofaLAN.
TheInbandManagementVLANisusedtohandleall
managementtraffic,suchasSNMPand
telnettraffictotheTotalAccess5000.
Provisioning the IP Network Interface

Provision the Inband Interface
TosettheInbandInterfacefortheshelf,completethefollowingprocedure:
1. FromtheEnableprompt,type
configure terminal,andpressENTERtoaccesstheGlo‐
balConfigurationprompt.
2. FromtheGlobalConfigurationprompt,type
system-management-evc,and pressENTER
toaccesstheSystemManagementEVCInterfaceConfigurationprompt.
3. FromtheSystemManagementEVCInterfaceConfigurationprompt,type
s-tag <1-
4094>
,andpressENTERtosetthesystemmanagementVLANtothedesiredID.
4. FromtheSystemManagementEVCConfiguration prompt,type
men-pri <0-7>,and
press
ENTERtosetthesystemmanagementVLANprioritytothedesiredpriority.
Usethemen‐pri<0‐7>commandtosettheprioritygiventoframessourcedbythe
system.ThepriorityvalueappearsastheP‐bitintheVLANtagoftheframe.
5. FromtheSystemManagementEVCConfigurationprompt,
typeip address A.B.C.D
A.B.C.D
,andpressEntertoconfiguretheInbandIPaddressandsubnetmask.
6. FromtheSystemManagementEVCConfiguration prompt,type
no shutdown,and
press
ENTERtoenablethesystemm anagementEVC.
7. Type
exit,andpressEntertoreturntotheGlobalConfigurationprompt.
8. FromtheGlobalConfigurationprompt,type
ip route A.B.C.D A.B.C.D A.B.C.D,
andpressEntertosetthegatewayfortheinbandinterface,wherethefirstvalueistheIP
addressoftheInbandinterface,thesecondvalueisthesubnetmask,andthethirdvalue
isthegatewayIPaddressfortheinbandinterface.
