T1 8-Port Line Module Description
TheT18‐PortLineModuleprovideseightindependentoutsideplantconventionalT1inter‐
facestoacustomerorbetweenTotalAccess5000systemswithorwithoutspanpower.Each
interfaceconsistsofafour‐wireT1interfacebetweenaTimeDivisionMultiplex(TDM)
networkandanIPnetwork.
TheT1
8‐PortLineModuleconvertsEthernetpacketstoaTDMstream.TheT1interfacesare
usedtotransporttheEthernetpacketsfromoneTotalAccess5000shelftoanother.The
moduleimplementstheEthernetFirstMile(EFM)protocoltofragmentanddefragmentthe
packetsintobondedT1channelsofvariousbandwidths.
Withaspansupplydaughterboard,eachT1cansupply–130VDCor±130VDC(260VDC
effective)topowerconventionalT1repeaters.Eachsupplycircuitislimitedto60mAand
includesaGroundFaultInterrupt(GFI).Thespansupplycanbeconfiguredasopen,source,
orloopbackforthe
spansupplycurrent.
TheT18‐PortLineModulecanoperateinredundantmodewheretheleft‐mostmoduleinthe
chassisistheprimaryandthemoduletotherightisthesecondary.
AnLM IO2‐CH50DmustbeinstalledpriortotheinsertionoftheT18‐Port
LineModule.
GE 4-Port Line Module Description
TheGE4‐PortLineModuleinterfacestotheTotalAccess5000shelfthroughindividual
1‐GbpsbackplaneconnectionstoeachTotalAccess5000SwitchModule.TheGE4‐PortLine
Modulemaybedeployedinaredundantornon‐redundantconfiguration.Aredundant
configurationisobtainedthroughtheuseof
theLMIO2High‐SpeedLineModuleRearPanel
(P/N1187460E1).Thismoduleprovidesacontrolpathbetweentheredundantmodulepair.In
anon‐redundantconfiguration,theTotalAccess5000I/OBlankPanel(P/N11 87923L1)is
required.
TheGE4‐PortLineModulecanalsobeusedasanetwork
extenderforEthernettrafficto
multipleTotalAccess5000 shelves.Inthisconfiguration,theGE4‐PortLineModuleinterfaces
