SCM Description
TheSystemControllerModule(SCM)providesalogicaluserinterfacetotheentiresystem.
TheSCMenablestheprovisioningofmodules,alarmstatusmonitoring,queryingofperfor‐
mancedata,andinitiationoftestsforanymoduleintheshelf.TheSCMprovidesvarious
interfacesforbothlocalandremotemanagementof
theTotalAccess5000system.Itsupports
SimpleNetworkManagementProtocol(SNMP),CommandLineInterface(CLI),Transaction
Language1(TL1),Telnet,andlocalcraftaccessfortheentireTotalAccess5000system.
SCM, Second Generation Description
TheSCM,SecondGeneration(SCMG2)providesalogicaluserinterfacetotheentiresystem.
TheSCMG2enablestheprovisioningofmodules,alarmstatusmonitoring,thequeryingof
performancedata,andtheinitiationoftestsforanymoduleintheshelf.TheSCMG2 provides
variousinterfacesforbothlocal
andremotemanagementoftheTotalAccess5000system,
includingasecondaryEthernetportonthefrontpanelwithautocross‐overcorrectionthat
supportsaDHCPserver.TheSCMG2supportsSNMP,CLI,TL1,Telnet,SSHv2,andlocal
craftaccessfortheentireTotalAccess5000system.
Bridging SCM Description
TheBridgingSCMprovidesalogicaluserinterfacetotheentiresystem.TheBridgingSCM
enablestheprovisioningofmodules,alarmstatusmonitoring,thequeryingofperformance
data,andtheinitiationoftestsforanymoduleintheshelf.TheBridgingSCMprovides
variousinterfacesforbothlocalandremotemanagement
oftheTotalAccess5000system.The
SCMsupportsSNMP,CLI,TL1,Telnet,SSHv2,andlocalcraftaccessfortheentireTotalAccess
5000system.TheSCMalsosupportsEthernetbridgingbetweenanEthernetportandan
InbandNetworkinterface.

TheEthernetport(ENET 2)onthefrontpanelisa10/1 00Base‐Tportwithautocross‐over
connectionsthatsupportsaDHCPserver.Thisportcanbeusedinasimilarfashionastherear
