11.7.2.2 Precision (CRSN) Mode
Precision (corrosion) mode enables you to record precise spot measurements of the
remaining part thickness and evaluate areas of corrosion located during scanning.
Precision mode utilizes the thickness gage measurement algorithm, V-path correction
and do-zero for precise thickness measurements using dual element transducers.
Automatic gain control (AGC) helps to ensure consistent measurements. Grid view
can save readings and simplify the reporting process (see “Grid View” on page 130).
Precision Mode Screen
The EPOCH 6LT screen in precision mode has a modified screen layout compared to
the standard flaw detector screen. Some flaw detector functions are limited or
unavailable when the instrument is in precision mode (see Figure 11-32 on page 193).
• Measurement Region
Defined by the gate at the top of the A-scan.
•Measurement Indicator
The triangle along the bottom of the A-scan to indicate the point at which the
measurement is being acquired.
