Both gates can be used to do the following:
• Measure thickness with straight-beam transducers
• Measure sound path and depth with angle beam transducers
• Measure signal amplitude
• Measure time-of-flight in microseconds
• Trigger threshold and minimum-depth alarms
The gates can also be used together to take echo-to-echo thickness measurements.

You can perform basic gate adjustments using the Gate1 and Gate2 sidebar submenus
(see Figure 7-3 on page 74).
