14. Remove the rear output shaft assembly (S) by lifting
underneath the gear or by tapping the shaft from the
opposite side.
15. Remove the idler gear shaft assembly (T) and gear
clu
ster assembly (U) from the transmission housing
by pulling both assemblies straight up.
16. Place the gear cluster assembly on a clean surface for
inspection
. If disassembly is required, refer to “Gear
Cluster Disassembly”.
17. Using a 5 mm Allen wrench, remove the screws that
s
ecure the pinion shaft assembly (V). Lift the pinion
shaft assemb ly str aight up to r emove it fr om the
housing. No te th e lon ger scr ew (W) tha t lo cks th e
snorkel tube.
18. Remove all seals from the gearcase halves and clean
th
e cases in preparation for assembly.
