13. Install the sector gear (16T) onto the shift drum shaft.
Install the shift shaft assembly and sector gear (11T)
into th e bu shing pocket on the left side. Alig n the
timing marks on the gears as shown.
14. Install the spacer onto the shift drum shaft.
15. Install the detent star onto the shift drum shaf
t. Be sure
to install the detent star with the raised edge facing
outward and skip-tooth aligned.
16. Install the detent pawl onto the shift shaft and carefully
inst
all the compression spring.
17. Install a new O-ring on each shift shaft. Apply a small
amo
unt of white lithium grease on the O-rings, shift
shafts an d comp onent cont act su rfaces p rior to
installing the sector cover.
18. Clean the transmission and gear sector cover mating
su
rfaces thoroughly.
19. Apply Cr ankcase Sealant (3 -Bond) ( PN 2871557)
onto the
cover and transmission case mating surface.
20. Install th e secto r cover an d a lign the tran smission
ca
se dowel with the alignment hole. Install and torque
the bolts to specification.

Sector Cover Bolts:
7-9 ft. lbs. (9-12 Nm)
