5. Remove the heat shield (Fig. 0799).
The ignition switch is mounted on the left side of the
control panel (Fig. 0800).

Detents inside the ignition switch give it 3 positions: OFF,
RUN, and START. The START position is spring loaded
so the cylinder automatically returns to RUN once the
key is released.
This component provides the proper switching for the
starter, ignition, accessories, and safety circuits.
