1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The AV7000 Camera is a high performance linear camera with an integrated image
processing system dedicated to automatic code identification on moving parcels.
This chapter introduces a minimum set of concepts necessary for camera installation and
setup.
1.2 READING STATION OVERVIEW
The AV7000 camera reading system consists of two pieces:
Figure 4: Camera and Illumination
1. A barcode reader/camera for acquiring the images, locating, and reading the codes on
the target.
2. A lighting system for illuminating the target codes to be acquired.

Practical reading system applications often use a network of multiple cameras and are
usually much more complex.
All linear cameras need to know the speed of the targets to be acquired, so the conveyor
speed must be constantly measured. There are several ways to accomplish this.
Optical Encoder Wheel (Tachometer): Used underneath a conventional conveyor. The
encoder generates a pulse per specified distance (mm [in]) of conveyor travel.
