5.2 FOCUS DEVICE SETUP
The AV7000 focusing position is computed by the camera based on the position of the
package measured by a height sensor. The Datalogic sensors may be a DM3610
Dimensioner (see section 0), RangeFinder (see section 5.2.2), or AREAscan™ DS2 Light
Array (LCC-75xx Kit) (see section 5.2.3). Focus device setup is explained in this section.
IMPORTANT: Though it is unlikely to happen, a
DM3610 and RangeFinder cannot be installed and
configured for focusing on the same system. This will
cause system problems.
5.2.1 Setting up AV7000 Focus Using a DM3610 Dimensioner
Refer to the DM3610 Dimensioner Reference Manual for complete information on installation
and calibration. The manual is available for download from www.datalogic.com.
IMPORTANT: The DM3610 must be running software
version 1_7_47 or greater, and must be installed at least
500 mm [20 in] from the nearest camera scan line.
DM3610 offset calculations are based on ¼ in. [6.35 mm] increments. Each whole number
value in the Focus Setup window equals ¼ in, i.e.: a value of 4 equals 1 in. [25.4 mm]. The
goal in setting up the DM3610 is to identify the zero value positions for focusing; i.e. the
height to the conveyor belt or tray surface (for tilt-tray systems) and read area across the belt
(right and left edges).
Set DM3610 parameters to the following configuration for the calibration process.
NOTE: For complete information on connecting to the
DM3610 User Interface, see the DM3610 Dimensioner
Reference Manual.
NOTE: Remember to reset these parameters to the
application specifications after the calibration is complete.
