Appendix - Technical Specifications MDM6000 Satellite Modem
The Baseband frame header decoder will not work reliably below -2.0dB Es/No. When operating a
link below -2dB Es/No, occasional unlock events are expected due to BBheader decoder failures.
Although few modcods have lower threshold, ACM operation below -2dB is not recommended.
In pilots off mode the Baseband frames phase tracking is based on payload symbols. For a given
modulation the phase tracking is more difficult for low FEC rates and low symbol rates.
For optimal performance, a minimum symbol rate should be taken into account when working in
pilots OFF mode. Below that threshold pilots ON is strongly recommended. See the tables below for
minimum symbol rates.
