Exercise Sheet 3-5-1
Lubricating the X-Axis
1. Using an ammonia-based cleaner and a soft cloth, clean and wipe the X-Axis shafts.
2. Load the grease cartridge into the grease gun.
3. Pull back on the handle at the bottom of the grease gun cylinder until the locking
tabs are visible.
4. Twist the lock into position.
5. Unscrew and remove the top of the grease gun.
6. Remove the blue cap from the grease cartridge and place it, open end down, into
the grease gun cylinder.
7. Remove the seal from the bottom of the grease cartridge by pulling the tab.
8. Replace the top of the grease gun.
9. Screw the extension into the front side at the top of the grease gun.
10. Release the handle from the locked position.
11. Purge the air from the grease gun cartridge by dispensing grease until a solid
stream flows from the gun.
12. Using the Position Controls on the Dispenser Control Panel, move the dispensing
head to the front of the dispensing area.
13. Lower the dispensing head as low as possible.
 Make sure the dispensing needle and Height Sensor Probe do NOT crash down
on to the substrate.
14. Turn OFF the Main Power Switch.
15. Open the front doors.
16. Locate the small access hole on the X-Axis bearing housing. The access hole is in
the center of the housing.
17. Put the tip of the grease gun against the access hole.
18. Pump the grease gun once or twice to inject an ample amount of grease into the
housing.
19. The housing is full when grease comes out of the ends.
20. Spread the excess grease along the length of the X-Axis shafts.
21. Repeat Steps 16–19 for the backside of the bearing housing.
