Information Sheet 2-7-1
HS-Series RT Height Sensor
A. Theory of Operation for HS-Series
1. This sensor uses a stainless steel probe to contact the dispensing surface.
2. When the dispensing head lowers and the probe tip contacts the substrate, it
triggers an I/O in the Height Sensor.
3. The Height Sensor sends the substrate height information to the Fluidmove
software.
B. Probe Adjustments for HS-Series
1. Depending on the dispensing pattern, the substrate material, and/or the needle
size, you may need to adjust the probe height in relation to the needle height, the
distance between the probe tip and the needle tip, or the stroke length of the up
and down motion of the probe.
2. These adjustments can improve the throughput and dispensing quality.
3. Minor adjustments to the probe can be made by the operator using a micrometer.
Significant adjustments should only be made by a service technician.
C. HS Series Height Sensor Setup
1. If you upgrade the FmNT software or change or adjust the Height Sensor, you will
need to perform one of the following setup procedures:
 Calculate Master Offsets (CMO).
 Valve Offsets (VO).
 Scripted Valve Offsets (SVO).
 Camera-Assisted Scripted Valve Offsets (CASVO).
2. All four procedures perform all of the necessary setup functions.
