Exercise Sheet 4-12-1
No Computer Interface
1. Be sure that the following Modules and components are connected to the computer as
follows:
COM 1 to the Conveyor Controller Module 2 (if system is equipped with Dual Lane
Conveyor)
COM 2 to the Conveyor Controller Module
COM 3 to the Scale Display
COM 4 to the Heater Relay Module
COM 5 to the Upstream SMEMA
COM 6 to the Downstream SMEMA
2. Check to see if the Conveyor Controller Modules are communicating with the computer by
clicking on Tools in the FMW Main Window.
3. In the Tools Window, click on Terminal.
4. Click on Conveyor to enter the Terminal Mode Window for the Conveyor.
5. In the Terminal Mode Window, type the following command: oi.
 You should receive a response from the Automove with a revision number.
6. If the computer is not communicating with the Conveyor, reverse the COM port
connections and try using COM 1 to communicate with the Conveyor. This will identify
whether the failure is caused by the computer serial card or the Conveyor Controller
Module.
