Safety Interlock and Light Pole/Beacon
A. Safety Interlock
1. The Interlock is a built-in safety device activated by opening either the hood or the
window while the system is ON.
 Opening the hood or window while the dispensing system is ON disables all
dispensing head motion.
 To resume production, close the hood or window.
 Dispensing may be adversely affected if the hood or window is opened during a
production run.
2. Interlock status is indicated by the colored lights on the light pole/beacon.
B. Light Pole/Beacon
1. The Light Pole Beacon is a safety device usually attached to the top of the
dispensing system.
2. The Light Pole Beacon is ON whenever the dispensing system is ON.
3. It has at least three colored lights which indicate the machine status.
4. The Light Pole/Beacon can also serve as an audible warning device by issuing an
alarm.
5. Table 1-6-1 provides a detailed explanation of the various conditions indicated by
each light color.
