Exercise Sheet 3-8-1
Removing and Replacing the Conveyor Belts
Tools and Materials Needed:
1/8 -inch hex key
3/32-inch hex key
7/64-inch hex key
Pliers
New conveyor belts
1. Move the dispensing head to the home position.
2. Use the Jog Controls to move the rear conveyor rail to the extreme back of the dispensing
area.
3. Press the EMO (E-Stop) button.
4. Turn the Main Circuit Breaker OFF.
5. Unplug all power cords connected to the dispensing system.
6. Open the hood.
7. Locate the conveyor drive shaft.
8. Locate the locking pin at the rear end of the drive shaft.
9. Use the pliers to pull the locking pin out of the drive shaft.
10. Use the Philips head screwdriver to open the upper rear access door.
11. Slide the drive shaft to the rear of the dispenser. The drive shaft will extend out through
the open rear access panel.
 It is only necessary to pull the drive shaft half way out so that one end of the shaft is
free of the driver wheel on the conveyor.
12. Depending upon your system configuration, you may need to remove one or more of the
following:
 Determine if the stop pins are close enough to the conveyor rails to prevent you from
removing the conveyor belts. If the belt cannot be removed with the stop pins in
place, use a 2.5-mm hex key to remove all of the stop pins along the length of one of
the conveyor rails.
 It is recommended that you remove and replace one belt at a time to ensure that all
parts removed from each rail are re-installed in their exact same locations.
 If clamp bars are present, use a Philips head screwdriver to remove them.
 Anything that is close enough to the conveyor rail to prevent the removal of the
conveyor belt, needs to be removed.
