Measuring device Specifies the type of sensor(s) used. Selection options:
Encoder
Proximity switch
Encoder + proximity switch
Proximity switch 1 + proximity switch 2
Encoder 1 + encoder 2 (only for PSR-M-EM5 ... 7)
Pitch IfLinear” is selected as the axis type and “Rotational” is parameterized as the sensor type,
this field can be used to enter the pitch in order to perform a conversion between the sensor
revolutions and the distance traveled [mm/revolution].
Proximity choice Enables the selection of proximity sensors with the choice of PNP, NPN, normally open con-
tact (NO) or normally closed contact (NC), and with 3 or 4 wires. Selection options:

Measurement Encoder
Resolution
In this field, enter the number of pulses/revolution (in the case of a rotary sensor) or
μm/pulse (in the case of a linear sensor) based on the sensor used. This encoder is used
for the speed threshold values.
Verification Proximity Res-
olution
In this field, enter the number of pulses/revolution (in the case of a rotary sensor) or
μm/pulse (in the case of a linear sensor) based on the sensor used.
Gear Ratio Use this parameter if there are two sensors on the selected axis. This parameter enables
you to enter the ratio between the two sensors. If both sensors are located on the same mov-
ing shaft, the ratio is 1; otherwise the ratio must be entered.
Example: an encoder and a proximity switch are positioned on different shafts of a gearbox.
The shaft at the encoder turns twice as fast as the shaft at the proximity switch. Therefore,
the value that needs to be entered is 2.
NOTE:
In order to achieve performance level PL e, proximity switches of type “PNP NO” should
be used.
