5.4.4 COUNTER operators
5.4.4.1 COUNTER

The “COUNTER” operator is a pulse counter that sets output “Q” to logic “1” as soon as the
desired counter value is reached.

Parameters
Ck down Counting down is activated when this option is selected.
Enable Clear When this option is selected, a “Clear” demand can be issued to restart the counter and con-
sequently set output “Q” to logic “0”. On activation, it is also possible to select either “Man-
ual” or “Manual/Automatic” as the “Counter Type”.
If this option is not selected, the counter type is “Automatic”. When the set counter value is
reached, output “Q” is set to logic “1” (pulse) for a length of 2 x cycle time. It is then reset.
Counting Number of pulses to be counted, which generates a counting pulse.
Double edge If this parameter is selected, counting is activated on both the rising and falling edge.
Counter Type There are three operating modes:
Automatic
Manual
Manual/Automatic
An example is provided for each operating mode below, with pulse diagram and uniform
setting of the “Counting” parameter = 6.
