5.6.1.1 SERIAL OUTPUT
1
The “SERIAL OUTPUT” function transmits the status of a maximum of eight inputs and pro-
vides the information to the “O
UT” output using a serial signal.
Figure 5-164 “SERIAL OUTPUT” operator
Parameters
Inputs number This parameter defines the number of inputs for the function block: 2 ... 8 (asynchronous) or
3 ... 8 (synchronous).
Mode Select This function transmits the status of all connected inputs to the output using two different
methods: asynchronous or synchronous synchronization.
“Asynchronous” mode
selection
1. The status of the signal line in the standby state is logic “1”.
2. At the start of data transmission, the signal is 1 bit = logic “0”.
3. The transmission of n bits with the status of the associated inputs is coded using Man-
chester coding:
– Status 0: rising edge of the signal in the bit center
– Status 1: falling edge of the signal in the bit center
4. The duration between two telegrams (idle state) is specified as logic “1” in order to en-
able synchronization with an external PLC.
The “C
LOCK” output is therefore not available for the asynchronous method.
