System description
109241_en_03 PHOENIX CONTACT 23 / 232
Power supply and reference ground
Use the same power supply to provide the supply voltage for all the devices in the sys-
tem.
Only use power supply units with safe isolation and SELV/PELV in accordance with
EN 50178/VDE 0160.
Protect the power supply externally with a suitable fuse.
Connect the GND connection on the output side of the power supply unit to the func-
tional ground (FE) of the system.
Make sure that all inputs and outputs of the system are connected to the same ground.
2.3 Using the system
Safety circuits The safety modules of the PSRmodular system support flexible configuration. The system
includes safe blocks which are used to create the safety logic. You can therefore implement
various safety functions in different safety circuits using the PSRmodular Software. Here are
just some of the main options:
Emergency stop monitoring
Safety door monitoring (with and without guard locking device)
Two-hand controls
External device monitoring (EDM)
Monitoring and checking electro-sensitive protective equipment
Mode selector switch (evaluation of a mode selector switch and an enable switch)
Muting applications (light grid monitoring with parallel muting)
Safe motion applications
Monitoring safe analog values
Application example for the PSR-M-B1 base module
Two-channel emergency stop monitoring
Manual, monitored start
With cross-circuit detection
Suitable up to category 4, PL e (EN ISO 13849-1), SIL 3 (EN 62061)
